Sono nato nel 1951 a Siracusa, città sulla costa sud orientale della Sicilia, povera economicamente ma ricca di bellezze naturali e testimonianze storiche. Il suo mare è straordinario e questo che mi ha spinto sin da bambino a conoscerlo a fondo . Ho imparato a conoscerne i fondali e la fauna che ci abita, soprattutto i gasteropodi, creauture straordinarie ed ovviamente le loro conchiglie. Queste hanno assunto un ruolo così importante tale da condizionare la mia vita. All'inizio, come un pò tutti gli appassionati, ho acquisito quante più specie fosse possibile raccogliendole un pò dappertutto nel mediterraneo , successivamente scambiandole con altri cultori di questa materia. Grazie alla passione per la fotografia naturalistica, ho poi cominciato a fotografarle, con grande soddisfazione. Adesso, alla mia età, dedico parte del mio tempo a diffonderne la conoscenza. I was born in 1951 in Syracuse, small town on the southeastern coast of Sicily, economically poor but rich in natural beauty and historical sites. Its sea is extraordinary, and that's what inspired me, since I was child, to know it. I learned to know the seabed and the wildlife that lives there, especially gastropods, extraordinary creatures and obviously their shells. These have taken on a role so important enough to affect my life. At first, as so many other enthusiasts, I have acquired many species as possible by collecting almost everywhere in the Mediterranean, then exchanging them with other connoisseurs of this subject. Thanks to the passion for nature photography, I then started to photograph them, with great pleasure. Now, at my age, I dedicate part of my time to spread the knowledge of malacology.
